1. Our commitment
Miles is meant to give people confidence about their car. That only works if everyone can actually use it — including people who browse with a keyboard instead of a mouse, who use a screen reader or magnifier, who need larger text or more colour contrast, or who turn off animation.
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most widely used to measure whether a website is accessible. We do not claim that every part of our site meets that standard today. Where we know it falls short, we say so in section 4 and we work to close the gap.
2. What we do
- We check colour contrast against the WCAG AA thresholds and correct text that falls below them.
- We write alternative text for images that carry meaning, and mark purely decorative images so screen readers skip them.
- We label every form field, and keep a visible focus indicator so keyboard users can always see where they are.
- We use proper headings and page structure so the site can be navigated by heading or landmark rather than read start to finish.
- We honour the “reduce motion” setting in your operating system, and hold animation still when it is turned on.
- We test with automated tools and by hand — keyboard-only navigation and a screen reader — rather than relying on automated checks alone, which catch only part of what matters.
3. Accessibility overlays
We do not use an accessibility overlay, toolbar, or widget. These products claim to make a site accessible automatically and generally do not. We would rather fix the underlying site.
4. Known limitations
We review the site regularly and keep a record of what still needs work. As of the date above:
- Some form-field borders do not yet meet the contrast requirement for interface components, which can make the edge of an input hard to see.
- Checkout is provided by Shopify and our support portal is provided by Freshdesk. We do not control the code on those pages. We report accessibility problems to those vendors and will help you complete anything you cannot finish there yourself.
- The Miles app is held to the same standard as this site, and is at an earlier stage of review.
5. Tell us about a problem
If any part of Miles is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us. You do not need to know why it is failing or what to call it — describe what you were trying to do and what happened, and we will take it from there.
We aim to respond within five business days. If you cannot use that form, email support@mileslabs.com or write to us at the postal address above, and we will find another way to reach you.
If there is something you need and cannot get to on the site, tell us what it is and we will provide it in another format or help you complete it directly.
6. Updates to this statement
We update this page when we complete accessibility work, when a review turns up something new, or at least once a year. The date at the top shows when it was last reviewed.
